Treatment For Anxiety – Medications Can’t Cure Your Anxiety Disorder

By Chrissy

CBT is probably the best type of psychotherapy for generalized anxiety disorders. Typically a short term therapy, CBT aims to teach you certain behavioral patterns that will help you overcome your symptoms over time. CBT will allow you to develop new, healthier responses to stressors. These behaviors will replace the negative patterns that you have developed over time.

People who suffer from an anxiety disorder or agoraphobia can find life extremely hard. These people become extremely anxious about even the tiniest things, which can trigger a panic attack. People who are anxious to experience symptoms of anxiety when it comes to social interactions, handling their own money, or even going to public places such as the grocery store. This can be extremely detrimental to the sufferer’s ability to function normally in their daily lives. If you are suffering from one of these anxiety disorders, you should definitely seek out treatment for anxiety.

A great way to manage your symptoms is through CBT. CBT consists of two parts, cognitive therapy and behavioral therapy. Cognitive therapy deals with changing how you think about and respond to stressful situations. For example, if you generally become anxious about speaking in public, your doctor may recommend that you practice speaking slowly and not pacing up and down. Your doctor may also suggest that you practice being assertive, so that you will know how to handle difficult situations yourself.

If your anxiety disorders are very severe, your doctor may prescribe medication. There are a variety of different types of medication used for treating these symptoms. The most common medications prescribed are benzodiazepines, which are very effective for quickly calming your nerves and reducing any bitterness. Your doctor should tell you what medication he or she has prescribed for others before you begin taking it yourself. While these medications can be very effective, they have many side effects, including drowsiness, fatigue, and nausea, so you should only take them under careful supervision.

Other methods of treating anxiety symptoms include meditation, yoga, deep breathing exercises, and other relaxation techniques. These methods help you learn to control your mind so that you are not constantly thinking about your problems. By learning to mentally fight your stress, you will learn how to control the situation when it does become overwhelming, and you will be able to overcome your negative thoughts and fears.

No matter what treatment for anxiety you decide on, remember that medication can only do so much. You must find a way to cope with your symptoms on your own. Try to see the problem in a different light. Instead of worrying and stressing, try to relax, even for just a few moments. These simple tips will help you reduce your medications and eliminate the need for them altogether.
